Many of our laundries have been in business since the early 20th century. Back then, the majority of their work was providing domestic laundry services to households – a labour intensive job, with horse and cart often the preferred delivery vehicle.
The arrival of the domestic washing machine proved to be a major challenge, virtually wiping out their traditional marketplace. In order to survive, laundries had to diversify and so concentrated their efforts towards hotels and factories, offering them the opportunity to rent bedlinen, towelling and uniforms direct from the laundry.
The rest, as they say, is history. It’s fair to say that today, the same innovative and forward thinking spirit is alive and well across all our laundries. Investments in people, technology, equipment and systems are helping to ensure our future stays brilliant well into the 21st century.

The Bally Chohan Laundry Group’s activities include an extensive range of laundry, hygiene and dry cleaning services and products to industrial and commercial customers. Bally Chohan is aware that laundry processes have an impact on the environment such as resource, energy, and chemical utilisation and waste production. Therefore, Bally Chohan Laundry is committed to minimising these impacts and continually improving the company’s environmental performance. To achieve this goal, Bally Chohan laundry will:
  • Establish effective environmental management systems, which, through monitoring and auditing, will continually improve Bally Chohan’s environmental performance.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, and be aware of forthcoming European Union and UK environmental legislation, including TSA (Textile Services Association) and Health & Safety Environmental Guidelines.
  • Monitor and strive to improve all environmental effects, which are considered to have significant environmental impacts, by identifying areas that could be improved on – energy usage, recycling, noise, pollution and packaging.
  • Aim to reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources at all operational stages.
